Help Me Decide – Screen Porch Lighting Options

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I had finalized the lighting plan for the new house. But while that’s true, there are still a couple more fixtures I need to order. And one in particular I’m having a really hard time making up my...

Basic Invite Graduation, Wedding and Baby Shower Invitations

Let me introduce you to Basic Invite. They have gorgeous designs for whatever your event, almost unlimited colors and 40 different colors of envelopes.

Basic Invite had some gorgeous templates for graduation invitations, below are three of my favorites. I love how simple and classy these graduation invitation photo cards are. One of my blog readers, Cara Hanson, just started her own cookie business Cut + Iced and I grabbed some custom cookies from her so you could see how fun these would be at the graduation party.

I adore the wedding invitations on the site as well and chose two of the most unique to share with you. If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll remember for our wedding (almost 10 years ago now!) I mailed our invitations in a box so it would feel like a special gift for the recipient. This invitation is amazing, it’s made out of wood. From the moment the recipient opens the envelope they will know your event is going to be unique!

I love this next one as well, it’s printed on clear paper that has a little weight to it. You could pop any color paper behind it to coordinate with your wedding colors.

Lastly, isn’t this duck baby shower invite adorable? I purposely chose the one for twins and Cara made two adorable little twin ducks to coordinate with the invite.

Thank you, Basic Invite, for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.

Visiting Charleston?

At least once a week I get an email or a direct message from someone asking for Charleston recommendations. So I figured it was probably time to write up a little visitor’s guide for the blog. We vacationed in the area at least once a year...

In urban areas where outdoor space is limited, you won’t typically find front gardens carpeted with the large, uniform, smooth lawns more commonly found in suburban neighborhoods. But a small area of lawn could work.

Getting it Cheaper: Outdoor Umbrellas

Years ago I did my first “Getting it Cheaper” post all about finds from Pottery Barn etc. that have knock offs at the Dollar Tree (you read that correctly)… they are one of my favorite kind of posts to write because if you know me at all you know I LOVE a good deal. We had a great umbrella that we purchased about seven or eight ago that finally kicked the bucket after a surprise wind storm pulled it right out of our table and across the yard. I’ve been ogling the gorgeous umbrellas the come every few months in the Serena & Lily catalog but can’t justify spending that much on an outdoor umbrella. Today I was walking through Target and saw this gorgeous umbrella from Opalhouse and my idea for this post was born… I couldn’t believe all those gorgeous umbrellas from Serena & Lily that I loved had near duplicates out there and I didn’t know it. Some are even a 10% of the price of the Serena & Lily ones… have fun browsing, especially if you are like me and need to grab one before it becomes super sunny and hot.

I made the collage in the navy family but there are different colors you can choose depending on the umbrella… some of the colors are really gorgeous, I especially love the light gray options because they will go with almost any pillows.
